It appears that what was once "GateCon" will now be called "Timeless Destinations" and will be held July 31 to August 6. Ellen "Giggerota" Dubin is scheduled to appear - she was at GateCon in July and I must say she was great to talk to.
OK so here's a real surprise: MICHAEL McMANUS is also scheduled to be there. I didn't think that he was interested in doing conventions, but apparently he has had a change of heart? Anyone know anything else about this?

Actually, Gatecon is still Gatecon.. but next year's Gatecon will be held in England from what I understand.
Timeless Destinations will be a different con altogether.
Bill Wanstrom of Timeless Destinations says this will be Michael's first convention <ever>.
Is this true?

If Bill doesn't count the best of all Lexx get-togethers, "The UnCons" in Halifax, then it will be Michael's first outside Nova Scotia. Ellen Dubin will be there as well. It should prove to be interesting. brian

Are you gonna be there too? Oh man, that would rule.
Bill said that Michael called him up Sunday morning, and told him it was to be his <first> convention. Now, while I hadn't actually been to one before DragonCon this year, that didn't quite sound right to me. I didn't want to contradict him, but I'd heard numerous accounts to the contrary. It seems likely to me that he just misunderstood him.

Even if it's not Michael's first convention, it's highly unusual. I don't think he really wanted to do the Kai character in the last series of Lexx. If I can make it to the convention it would be interesting to get Michael's perspective. It would also be good to get his autograph on my "Fluff Daddy" script.

The convention website is: www.timelessdestinations.com/While I enjoy going to large conventions for the variety of fan costumes and late night parties ( ), I still have to give an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up for GateCon/Timeless Destinations (and the last 2 Halifax "UnCons" which I had the privilege of attending!) for the fan-friendly atmosphere that normally doesn't happen at the bigger cons.

Oh, yes , I remember it well, James. I was the one who spent hours on the phone with him, over the course of 13 phone calls during that Tuesday, 2 days before we were set to fly to Atlanta. I was the one who listened to his tirades, but I don't hold any sort of a grudge any more. Michael and I have had conversations that were just fine since then. I suspect the true snake at the bottom of that nasty pit, and the person truly responsible for that mind-boggeling scramble we had to go through, wasn't Michael, but Lloyd Lowe. Lloyd, I am sure lied to Michael and made promises that he had no intention of keeping, just as he lied to us all later and ripped us off. . So, I say, let's give Mikey a break, and let's welcome his new found interest in thanking the good people who have been kind enough and interested enough to watch our crazy show. Some of us realize a bit earlier than others that the writers, producers, actors, technicians, craftspeople, and fans are all part of the mixture that makes a show interesting to do and interesting to be a part of. Remove any one of those elements, and it all falls apart. If no one watches, or no one cares , then.................. The sad thing , if there is a sad thing at all , is that we on the shooting team can thank each other every day while the show is in production, but we have to wait to thank the people we are REALLY doing it all for and that is all of you....... I hope Michael gives his thanks, and has a very, very good time at the convention, I truly do. I hope you don't take offence - you know there is no disrespect intended toward your opinion, James. I am simply expressing my own - cool ?? brian

hey jimdavis the website link you posted doesn't work Shannan: Oops... my bad. There is no "www" in the address... timelessdestinations.com/Sorry about that! Brian: I knew a little bit of what happened with Lloyd Lowe, but I didn't know to what extent he had lied and that he had actually ripped anyone off. I hope you and any of the other Lexx cast and crew who might be interested in conventions can find a trustworthy manager.

I like the way they have that set up now. Thanx for posting the address again! I can't speak for Mike, and I can sure understand the stress and complications that come with work of any kind (ha, Thomas, he hasn't done retail!!! heehee), but I know it sure helps me out occassionally to use medical tools to get a little more enjoyment out of a rough day. I once nearly told a customer what I really thought of her with a big ol' sloppy grin on my face. Fortunately I wasn't fired. If Mike really does show up, I hope he has FUN with it. Well, it would be weird if he enjoyed being mobbed a little too much. "Do it again! Do it again! Look, I've got my shirt back on, I'm all ready." Might scare few people off.
