Near the end of The Net, there is a 'bug' that crawls out of Stan that looks suspiciously like a replicator on Stargate, except it's gold colored. It scuttles around and jumps the same way. I'm betting this graphic showed up first on Lexx and was later picked up, polished up, and turned into replicators on Stargate. Does anybody know enough about airdates on either show to answer this one? ;D I'm kind of into graphics trivia. I see a LOT of work cross over. Thanx! -Janika

"The Net" was first broadcast on March 26 1999. Being that I haven't followed Stargate that much (but I have seen the replicator bugs of which you speak) I'd need the ep title of the first appearence of the little boogers to look it up. I found the above info at www.imdb.com/. Then typed 'Lexx' into the search box...BUT...wouldn't you know it in the list of eps, only two are missing...."The Net" and "The Web"! So I took the date given for "Woz", "The Net" was the next ep, then added seven days. So the moral is.....the net is NOT the best place to search for "The Net"! ;D ;D

As far as I know, most of that entire season had been broadcast before Stargate went to air. So, that means that the designers had to have had their work complete before Stargate started shooting. There are other 'firsts' for LEXX as well: the first sci-fi singing episode, the first to find a family of stow-aways on board, the first to use something other than lasers as weapons, the first crew to shower on board, the first to go to the bathroom on board, the first captain to hate Earth, the first to have a big stupid bug as their vessel, the first crew not to be organized along military lines..... More CGI than any TV series ever.... but you folks know most of this stuff anyway.... One thing we know, and that is that LEXX did not imitate anyone.

I think that Brigadoom even preceeded the Xena 3rd season double-ep opera, didn't it? Seaquest DSV had people showering... don't know the date, but it was on a futuristic submarine, not a starship. I can always tell when someone is NOT a die-hard scifi fan just by the way they talk about Lexx, because they don't catch a lot of this stuff. The first thing I do is jump and yell who is copying what when I watch scifi. I've even seen writers sell the same basic stories to 3 different shows in the same season, and that's about the time I stop watching a series. I love honest creativity, I think that's why I latched onto Lexx so hard. Anyway, I think I've caught several things that Stargate has borrowed from Lexx.

Richard Dean Anderson actually shops at my store. How cool is that?
I've never seen him, but a couple of my coworkers have.
It sure would be a treat to meet him. I'd like to tell him that I love his work.
I wonder, though.. if it would be appropriate to recognize him like that. The last thing I'd ever want to do is bother the guy.

Wasn't Lexx also the first one who did the selenium/bug/shampoo combo in "Twilight" before the David Duchovney movie "Evolution"?

Renee.....
What I remember about Twilight is the zombies, Kai and his silly poetry, lesbian lust, a nerdy version of 790..... and searching the hallways of the studio for Mary Walsh and Louie del Grande ( who would often just wander away.... I'm not quite sure what you mean about the selenium, etc.

Brian, I think I know what she's talking about. Their whole reason for going there in the first place was to get help for Stan.. and when they got there, their robot informed our heroes that Stanley's problem was a deficiency in selenium.. and that the balding man's shampoo contained that wonderful ingredient Stanley's body so badly needed.
Is that the point in question here? I remember it so well. I think there was a mention about how the crew all ate the same food (which clearly was lacking in it).. but as Xev stated, they all had very different constitutions or something. Then Lomia was like, 'I'll say'.

Exactly Thomas! Stan didn't get any selenium in his diet because he only ate food provided by the Lexx who is a giant bug. And Xev's cluster lizard side kept her from being affected.

Yeah, it's amazing how well we remember all that stuff, isn't it Janika?
I know it's more or less a <job> to Brian, and it's conceivable that he might not remember all of those little details. I'm sure that during filming he had a lot more on his mind than selenium deficiencies.

I'm sure that during filming he had a lot more on his mind than selenium deficiencies. ;D It's almost scary the detail I can remember in a show I've seen only once several years ago, but I can't seem to remember details about someone I checked into the hotel last night when a question comes up. I tend to discard the 'real' awfully quickly. There's just so much of it, ha. We had a summer full of severe weather the year Lexx was rerun so much in the wee hours and I was taping, so I've got several hours of "Error" messages from my dish, which means I haven't *seen* some of those shows since they originally aired on SciFi Prime how many years ago. And as soon as I read the post about selenium shampoo, I'm going OH YEAH, I could see the scenes and everything. So someday when I'm in a nursing home with all my old Lexx tapes and my Kai poster and stuff, the aids will be talking to me and I'll be in this other world, quoting Lexx shows... If I see a big spider I'm pretty sure I'll yell something about Gigerotta. They'll medicate me outa my mind.
