Just cannot wait for this, saw the trailer randomly, as this wasn't included in Grindhouse UK edition, and whilst I literally found nothing entertaining in either of the Grindhouse films, this looks right down my alley. Both Brian and Rutger are two of my favourite actors, so the combination stands to be mind blowing. Hope to see it soon!

I did an ADR session at a studio here in Montreal this morning for HWAS, with Jason and John on the line from Toronto. Finally got to see some footage of the film and was COMPLETELY blown away. It looks and sounds absolutely AMAZING !! The guys did an unbelievable job. No wonder the Sundance Film Festival took it for the opening weekend! The only thing 'low budget' about the film is the amount of money=t ittook to get it made. Everything else is BIG budget... color, shots, performances, script...the guys have really done something special here. brian

This morning on 95.5 KLOS FM- Mark and Brian's morning show (www.955klos.com)- Rautger Hauer called in to promote Hobo With A Shotgun. I just caught the last bit of the conversation, then Mark and Brian watched the trailer and their reactions was pretty funny. After the commercial break someone said "Im sorry he is a great actor but Im not going to see hobo with a shotgun, maybe transient with a sling shot, or bum with tennis elbow...".

Well, it's too bad those obvious douche bags got it wrong. Although, I do admit, the trailer does not do the scenario, or any other aspect of the film real justice... but then, what trailer EVER tells the real truth of a film. If t did... why watch the movie "Hobo..." is a hoot ! But then, these lads are from Atlantic Canada, are they ? They are from LA- LA- Land, and likely don't really have comprehension of irony. Which, in itself, is ironic. But... what else is new ? To be fair, though, the film is not meant for the mentally unstable, or those of undeveloped grasps of reality, or under-achievers - and, that, of course, includes most radio 'personalities'. So, I am quite comfortable, sitting in my personal blood bath, to wish those 'dudes' (are they offended by the term 'dudes'?) cold showers every time they actually get all hot and sweaty when they are touched by an original idea...not that we would EVER anticipate anything original from them.. that would be too much to expect.

They were just trying to be witty but yup, they are douchelords! After talking about Hobo they were discussing what they looked like in the 1980's- poodle permed mullets and tight leather pants (think bon jovi or even worse Kip Winger...gross) you get the idea. Anyway I cant wait to see Hobo and not just because Brian is in it. I dont go to see movie based on any certain actor/actress being in said film. Movies have been in the crapper for so many years now I rarely go anymore-often dont even feel I got my moneys worth with rentals. I think one of the last really good movies I saw in the theatre was " Pans Labyrinth" and that was in 2006 or 2007. I have to see Hobo because of the name of the movie, how can anyone not want to see a film with that kind of title? It just sounds fun!...and by the way, the two top grossing movies of the weekend were that adam sandler/ jennifer anniston romcom crap and the justin bieber movie I have lost faith in humanity....

I saw Hobo with a Shotgun!
Here's a quick review:
The Hobo (Rutger Hauer) rides a train into town - unfortunately, this is Scum Town (aka Dartmouth, Nova Scotia). The cops are corrupt, and the town is run by the vicious Drake (Brian Downey) and his sons Slick and Ivan, who come up with increasingly inventive murders to entertain/intimidate the locals.
The Hobo just wants to buy a second-hand lawnmower to start a gardening business. But when he's attacked by Slick and Ivan, he gets a shotgun instead, teams up with Abby, a tart with a heart of gold, and starts (to quote the poster) "delivering justice - one shell at a time".
This movie is not for the squeamish - man, it's gory - I can't remember the last time I saw so much blood on screen. Some truly shocking moments - the whole audience gasped. But it's so tongue in cheek that you find yourself laughing a lot at some really sick things. I'm not going to post spoilers here (apart from - giant octopus?!).
The film looks good - interesting use of colour - and had some very quotable lines (one of my favourites was a newspaper headline - "Homeless man stops begging, demands change"). Those who like Trailer Park Boys will spot Ricky - briefly. There are some Lexxtras in there as well. Rutger is great fun. And Brian is gleefully evil...
It's completely insane - in a good way. Sick, twisted, hilarious - I want to see it again ;D

Well, the girls with the striking dyed purple and yellow hair, who work in my favourite video rental store (Avenue Video) saw "Hobo..." on Tuesday evening here in Montreal, and LOVED it !! These girls can talk movies with depth and clarity, and we always have chats about films whenever I'm in there. They are impressive. So, them having so much fun at Hobo is more than a bit heart warming. It IS a REALLY good movie !!! Hope everyone gets a chance to see it. brian
