This time of the year is a time of celebration and reflection in many parts of the world. It is sometimes amazing that cultures and religions that share so much can be driven to see differences, rather than their common ground. World wide, we are all from the same genetic pool, whether we like it or not. Language, racial, ethnic, and religious differences are a matter of accidents of birth, not a fundamental separation of us as human beings. However, there are people who still pull layer after layer of predjudice and bias over their vision of others because of these very differences. My wish, at this time of the year especially, but all year long as well, is to see those layers disappear, and to see petty jealousies, self-serving biases, and mistrust of those who are not "like us" be replaced by a more humane view of the world. So, I wish Merry Christmas to all, and good times with family and friends, but most of all, peace and understanding on earth.

Well, peace and joy would be good, but I'd settle for everyone just getting out of my way while I'm trying to cook Happy Christmas and hopefully a peaceful New Year to all

I agree with you, Brian, I too wish everyone here a Merry Christmas & hope you get whatever it is you wished for; may you day both today & tomorrow be as happy & joyous as the rest of the yr. I also hope everyone here gets whatever they wanted & asked for; & may it be a happy time. This afternoon, I'll be working on my wig after lunch, shower & a nap; then my parents & I will be watching, `The Grinch That Stole Christmas' (not the Jim Carry 1), then stuff our stockings. Tomorrow, we wake up, open our stockings, have breakfast, then open some presents; then we either eat lunch or just relax, then open more presents in the afternoon, then have dinner & open the rest of our presents. THis way we make Christmas last just a little longer. Merry Christmas, Karen

Brian,
Thank you, that was very insightful. We should all strive to be more loving and accepting of others. It's a good thing to remember now, and always to keep in mind. All of us are different in someone else's eyes. Beauty comes in many colors. I don't say to the grass, "I like you because you're green, but hate the trees because they're brown.. or like the sun because it shines by day, but resent the moon because it stays away."
Celebrate diversity.
