Totally agree with you Brian, dragoncon sounds like a ridiculous con, and they expect you to pay for the table!!!!. Do the Fans not have there own LEXXCON or like a fan fund for paying for a possible future event?

Brian: I can certainly understand your point on not going to DragonCon; it's definitely a money machine and not fair to a lot of the celebrities and fans. I must admit that I have had some fun at D*C though, mostly from people watching (and Captain Morgan ). There are some incredibly talented people out there making and wearing some great costumes for these conventions. The best time for people/costume watching is late in the evening in the hotel lobby. But yes the overcrowding does get on my nerves at times too.

Well I agree that yes that paying for a table and other things where to much. But for it being a ridiculous Con, I don't agree there. I think its a great place to meet people, and see lot of kool things. It's expensive yes, but that's the fun about coming home saving up for next year so you can get the thing you saw and wanted next time. Sorry Brian but I still love you, but I don't think its a Kmart of Con's. Well if anyone still coming hope to see you there. Michele

Well if anyone still coming hope to see you there. I'll see you there too! I can appreciate the likes and dislikes of conventions from different perspectives, like from Brian's point of view or from a fan's point of view. It's expensive enough to go and be a fan, but it can be like a vacation, albeit a bit more "geeky" ;D But for a celeb to go and spend lots of money out of their own pocket, well, that would suck. During DragonCon it's the convention and the hotels who are making all the money.

Just to add that the table cost was covered by the LEXXfan club USA.

I guess that is what made the UnCons in Halifax so cool is that the actors didn't have so much out of pocket expense, at least in terms of travel expenses (correct me if I'm wrong Brian! ). If I had the know-how, money, time, etc., etc. I would love to organize some type of small fan-friendly Lexx gathering that wouldn't be near the expense of D*C or other big cons. JimCon 2005 in Charleston, WV anyone?!

If it's anything like Morgantown, I think I'll have to pass. No offense, man.. but I had a hellish time of it when I was out that way on vacation a few years ago.
But hey, seriously.. why couldn't we have a smaller LEXX convention somewhere? It wouldn't really even need to be a big convention hall or anything, would it? I'm not sure what the requirements are, but couldn't we hold our own little 'con just about anywhere? Like you know how restaurants have party rooms you can reserve and such stuff like that? And it probably wouldn't even cost all that much.

Hey Thomas: LOL, fortunately Charleston isn't anything like Morgantown. That's a party town because WV University is there (who YET AGAIN lost a bowl game last week, ha-ha...). Charleston is much more laid back... to the point of being quite boring really. But considering it's within a day's drive of about half the population of the US and it has a relatively low cost of living and doing business, etc. , this would be a pretty good place to do a convention. (BTW - WV has always been the butt of MANY jokes, but I would be happy to show anyone around and prove those jokes wrong ) In June 2003 a group called "Great Entertainment" (or something like that) put on a convention here and unfortunately it absolutely TANKED. The only reason that I can think of is that the organizers may not have advertised well enough, because there were some cool guests (i.e. Teryl Rothery of "Stargate SG-1," Robert Picardo and Ethan Phillips of "Star Trek: Voyager," Hudson Leick of "Xena" etc.). Of course I am happy to travel to different places for conventions. Halifax, NS was great; DragonCon Atlanta is fun (Sorry, Brian ); Toronto Trek was a really good convention and not over-crowded like DragonCon. If there is some way to do some Lexx based con, I would be happy to do my part, although I must admit some ignorance on my part about how all that works. Finding a reputable convention manager would probably be a good start I guess. Brian and everyone else : if I've missed something, mis-spoke about anything, etc. please feel free to correct me - as I said I admit some ignorance on my part where conventions are concerned. ;D

Hey JKD112,
Thank you for your prompt reply. It sounds like you've been pretty well-traveled and had a lot of fun going to these various conventions. You claim ignorance about conventions, but I've just got to say I'm sorry.. that award already goes to me. The only 'convention' I've ever yet gone to was a <business convention> for a now dead-in-the-water company called 'Equinox'. Perhaps you've heard of it?
I get <very> nervous around cameras, but otherwise these conventions sound like a lot of fun. I think I'd really love to go to one.
Is there any word or possibility that we'll have another?
Thanks much and have a blessed day.

Of course I am happy to travel to different places for conventions. Halifax, NS was great; DragonCon Atlanta is fun (Sorry, Brian ); Toronto Trek was a really good convention and not over-crowded like DragonCon. I also had a great time at Toronto Trek. The convention was well organized, and one of the most fan friendly I have ever been to. Everything was clicking for Brian and his fans. I got some amazing pictures of Brian and Patricia Zentilli that weekend. I'm not a professional photographer; Brian and Patrica were on the top of their game. Can I say what the fun was all about in relation to a particular convention or group of people? We were doing our own thing, our own way, without anyone telling us what sci-fi should or should not be a part of a Dragon Con panel. I have to admit, the friendly give and take with some of the Trekkers was intense. They seemed like the perfect water to our fire or the fire to our water. What do future convention plans look like? There are loads of possibilities among the smaller cons. Toronto Trek 05 is two weeks later this year. There are also many smaller cons in Canada, the US and Germany worth checking out. It would be well worth the travel to do a German con. There's that friendly give and take again!! I wonder if Brian speaks any German?

Is there any word or possibility that we'll have another? My guess is that with all the Lexx cast now working on other projects in other locations it might be pretty difficult to get everyone together, but who knows?

To let everyone know, at DragonCon, if you see someone wearing a red wig holding a videocamera, it's gonna be me.

Cool, daydreamer2005, I can't wait to meet you; & despite all the rumors, I think DragonCon's a lot of fun, seeing people wear different kinds of costumes, meeting new people & so on. & we'll never know who'll be a guest (Lexx wise or any other). I'll be wearing (as soon as I make the skirt): on Friday: Keyeo/Prince, both Saturday & Sunday: Alive Keyeo & I still don't know who I'll be that Monday. Stan Fans Unite, Karen

Can't wait to meet anyone from this message board who is coming to DragonCon either. There was a Lexx Fan table at DragonCon '03 and '04. I don't know if there will be this year, but if there is you'll meet some folks there. Also look around for a pretty young lady in a Xev costume; there were a couple of them last year, I think one's name is Michelle(?), don't know the other's name though (Somebody help me out here ). I've met some good folks because of Lexx. You will too Daydreamer. Lexx is a fun little obsession.
