Some folks already know that Ellen Dubin will be attending GATECON sci-fi convention in Vancouver at the end of July this year. I have been contacted by Bill Wanstrom of Gatecon and he has offered an invitation to me as well. But there is a small condition...He has told me that because it is a bit late in the game for their planning, they have spent their budget. He says that if he can get an assurance that at least 10 people, who might not otherwise have gone to the convention, sign up, or at least say they will now go, their budget people will accept this as a reason to go into temporary debt, and spring for the basic cost of getting me out there. If anyone decides to go, the convention is offering a 10% discount which will apply to their regular entrance fee. He has given me a number that must be quoted to get this discount. It is #BD05. So, there it is. It would be so very wonderful to meet up again with our friends who have enjoyed the show. And, even better, to meet up in Vancouver, which in a recent survey was voted the 3rd most liveable city in the world... it IS a pretty town.
FYI - the "GATE" in GATECON refers to the Lion's Gate Bridge, which runs from the beautiful Stanley Park to North Vancouver. It is one of the most photographed in the world.
