Been having more than a bit of trouble with accessing and responding to emails over the past week or more.....I am not ignoring those messages, I simply can not get in there..... It is yet another sign of my super-cheap attitude.....I know I need upgrades, I know I need a new operating system, but I can't bring myself to build a new wing for Bill Gates' house, or get a new hash pipe for the Jobs guy ! Although , if I HAD to make a choice, I'd rather Steve got high than Bill got a new dishwasher..... Again.. apologies....I'll get it sorted out soon.....meantime, there is always the option to simply leave a note in here in the PM area... And to those greedy bastards who constantly manufacture expensive devices and spend millions to persuade us that we NEED them... BAH !! You are Humbug !! Who remembers how to write a letter ??!

I'm having fun with computers too - my computer is working fine, but the operating system is apparently so old, I can no longer get any sort of anti-virus software that's compatible with it - so no Internet for me until I can treat myself to a new laptop. Thank goodness for my local library Quill pen is looking pretty tempting right now... or possibly even a stone slab and a chisel...

I am taking my dear old, reliable, Mac G4 to a heart specialist tomorrow. It needs an operating system transplant. Now, I know that there are risks involved, as there are when any senior citizen goes in for major surgery. I am just hoping that I don't have to do the unbearable and simply 'pull the plug'. The specialst has cautioned me that there might be some after-effects - loss of some memories, occasionally more cranky than usual, not recognizing certain things or places.... but, happily, there won't be any need for Depends, and no bed-wetting. If the operation goes well, I may be able to coax the old guy into dealing with some emails by tomorrow night - (yes, the healing time can be very speedy). So, to all others out there who have had to come to rely on those more knowledgeable then ourselves from time to time .... we are as one, we have an understanding that goes beyond words. "And so say we all".
see y'all soon again. brian

Goblin, if you are using windows, clamwin claims to work on windows 98 and more recent.

Varrtan, thanks for suggesting clamwin - I might try that on my old faithful computer.
Currently I'm breaking in my new puter - mmm, laptop ;D

yes l had my old OS get a new transplant as you put it a while back, my G4 works well now finally (after some IT surgeon spent 3 attempts sorting it, yes its mainly a money making racket and lve always said ''if its not broke dont fix it'' with regards to programmes and systems and their constant updates ;-)
