I thought I'd move this out of Shannan's thread. So, I've bought the "prescription for nutritional healing" book that Brian recommended. The first page I looked at talked about adrenal system disorders and says if your diastolic blood pressure (e.g. 80 in 120/80) is high it can indicate an adrenal system disorder. I used to ask people taking my blood pressure what it means that the second number is proportionally higher for me (e.g. normal systalic and high diastolic, 120/90) and they would look at me like cows chewing their cud.
My impression is that it should at least be good food for thought, and give me word definitions that I can recognize being used whenever I read about nutrition. Most of the (rather large) book is a list of disorders and treatments for them. I suspect I'll start deciding I have all sorts of disorders.
edit: Typically, I'm being inarticulate. I mean that I thought I'd move this out of Shannan's thread, so that I'm not diverting from the topic of her father's stroke. I hope he's okay.

I hope he's okay. your bp ratio is pretty important, as is that second number. It varies with so many things, but with me, if i drink enough i can make those numbers go sky high. There are so many factors...hydration, exercise, nutrition, toxic food. I almost married this one girl whos mother was a nutrionist. It annoyed me she drank water all night, but now I get it. Life is precious, not to be taken for granted, and nutrition is pretty important.
