All I can say is: `yeah right', but what they didn't say is, that California is deep into debt & will take many yrs to get back on track. I wonder how deep it'll go before other Californians realize this & get back to paying it off. Have a good weekend, Karen

as a native californian-for 32 years-I can honestly say that Califonia is a pretty sad sight these days..as are many other places that are dealing with this finacial depression. It sucks that I am busting my ass in college just to hear how many people in the field of psychology are being laid off...good thing Im in it to help others and not to get rich! I dont know if anyone else here besides varrtan lives in CA, but just watching the local news everyday (fox 11: good day LA) it makes me sick how the anchors go on and on about tiger woods and spend 2 seconds on Haiti...if you watch "the soup" on the E channel the host joel mchael often makes fun of the good day LA anchors, the two girls are dumb and annoying and the older guy steve edwards is calling then stupid and acting exasperated over the shallowness of the celebrity to real news ratio... and dont even get me started on those bravo real housewives of orange county shows..i live in orange county and yes they really are that shallow, ugly and plastic!

Joining this conversation kinda late.. I've lived in Las Vegas all my life... This city took the worst of it I can tell ya. Both me and my wife work from home. (don't seem to get out much) Just about every time we "Go Out" things look worse and worse. Even my "Big Shot" attorney (who just got married and has a baby) is upside down 400k on his home. I used to think we were UNLucky for not buying our home later.. getting an Energy Star certified home. (they didn't make them here when we bought in 1997) Which makes a difference when your power bill is $500 plus a month in August!! My business partner's home has Grid Tied Solar.. and has Zeroed out his meter more than once. His August bills are about a hundred. Anywho.. Our home is nearly paid off. The only problem is it is worth just about what we paid for it. But then you have the local government dreaming up ways of TAXING us to death because of THEIR short falls.. or "Crashing to the ground" so to speak. ----- Before the HEAT hits Vegas this year.. I had our crummy garage door replaced with the best one they had. (High R value) and we will add a solar attic fan. Our windows SUCK.. So I'm using this thin foil like material to help block out the heat. Makes a real difference. It would cost us $2500 plus to upgrade our current windows to cut down on the heat. (the foil I use is better than anything made for windows.. the only problem is the lack of light) One of my friends is a successful Realtor here. SHE is living off of savings.. So as BAD as California is... Las Vegas is really in the dumps. On the other hand tho.. Every time I go to our local "Costco".. people are buying the store out! Makes me wonder where THEY are getting their money from. GENE
