Does anyone know if Lexx was filmed or videotaped?

Seasons 1 and 2 were shot on film, and seasons 3 and 4 were shot on high definition video, I think.

Seasons 1 and 2 were shot on 16mm film using mostly Arriflex cameras, and season 3 on HD using Sony, at the equivalent of 30fps, and season 4 was also shot on Sony HD, but at 24fps, which is an easier match to make with other footage. Early season 3 was a problem, and required doing some re-shooting because of the absolute unforgiving nature oh early HD... you may notice a lot more 'atmosphere' in Season 3 (film term for smoke).

If the first two seasons were shot on film and the last two seasons on high def, I hope there's a possibility that Lexx could be put to Blu-ray def in the near future. That would be awesome.

Ew! Late '90s, first-generation HD. I was afraid you would say that. As a producer, that makes my interest in the media a bit less promising. However, as an editor, that could give me an interesting challenge to work with. Now I just have to decide which hat to entertain.

Oh yeah, yesterday i just finished watching last 5 episodes season 2 in a row and when season 3 just began i noticed that frame transition and overall picture is much smoother and more pleasant to eyes. I check file info and it was 29fps, compared to season 2 and it was 24 fps but i was afraid that it was problem of DVD encoding. Now i know that lexx 3 was the only season shoot like that. I wish season 1 and 2 could have 29 fps too. Btw Brian, do you you know where all the original films located now? I mean do they still saved in archive of AA and Canwest now or anywhere else? Or maybe they are gone forever with Salter Street Films studio? Also what about 3d render sources of CORE digital and other VFX companies? Did Salter have backup copy of all 3d render data or its gone with companies? Im asking this because i think about possibility of digital re-mastering of seasons 1-3 with enhanced VFX.
