Yeah, the Con was very fun and exciting. Hanging out with Goblin & Angryatnumbers was great. Brian was the best. I wish it all didn't have to end. Frank and I will have more pictures up soon. The flight and the drive back has left us both exhausted.

I'm glad you all got home safe and that you had a great time over there in St. John's.

The con was a lot of fun.... the people who organized it were all volunteers, and they did a great job. Lots of quite young children, lots of video games and gamers... Jeremy B. and his wife were a very sweet couple... the kids ADORED him !....Goblin and angryatnumbers must have been REALLY exhausted, Goblin having travelled from London, England, and 'angry' from LA. One of the things I learned over the weekend was that one meal at East Side Marios, is one meal too much - it was the eatery attached to the hotel, and the next nearest one was a cab ride away. brian Brian glad to see you back! Did you go on any pub crawls to any unusually named places?

I'll see what photos I have when I get home (Luddite that I am, I rely on film, not digital).
I'm still in St John's, where I am currently experimenting with screech cocktails....
Just list me as missing in action ;D

Angel, i cant speak for brian but me, goblin, cluster lizzy and chatins went to a resturant on bell island called "dicks fish and chips" right inside the door were a bunch of drawings from the locals (mostly children) that all said "We love DICKS"..Ill try to post those picks tommorow... This trip was SOOOOOO much fun! I had no idea that sci fi fans got down like that! Brian you were right, lexx fans ARE the best. The long plane rides and jetlag were more than worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.... Goblin, you are the best! honestly it wouldnt have been the same for me without you...Ill think of you everytime I see a middle aged star trek fan( seriously what was up with that one guy??!), or the next time boba fett comes up behind me and says "lets put it in the cargo hole", or if I come across gay ducks meeting up by the light of the moon! I hope you are doing good out there and surrounded by many bottles of coke! Cluster lizzy and Chatins, thanks for bringing all that cool lexx stuff, it was really cool to see costumes up close, I wouldnt have seen so much of st johns if it were not for you two, you guys are awesome! Brian, your drinking abilities leave me jealous..if you ever do another con I must insist on a rematch!
(pro) Co Ho's forever!
edited to add that you guys even made it worth it to go to eastside mario's.....which I really didnt think was all that bad food wise, but the drinks were terrible! I have NEVER had a long island iced tea that tasted only of lemon aid, or had a waitress respond to my order of a tequila sunrise and a shot of tequila with "I dont know what that is". What the crap was that all about?

angryatnumbers ! Thank you so very much for sharing those photos ! You are an ace ! And piles of points to you for making the trip through several hells to get from LA to St. John's....And thanks for taking the time to do a bit of exploring my home town.. I know you and Gob did some tripping that was very much fun. And, yeah....Chatins you were very gracious to have done the travel you and Kerry did...and to have brought the items you did...... And Goblin seems to have long distance travel as an addiction.. good for you ! There will be a photo or two on Jeremy's web site as well.....
Next time, it would be great to see more folks come to St. John's....it is an amazing city.. 300 foot high cliffs as the entrance to the harbour, which you can see from almost any part of the downtown, a harbour-front walkway and road where you can, literally, almost touch boats, both big and small, from many countries, and more pubs that you could possibly visit in a week....AND... the most friendly people you could possibly imagine. Everyone who visits is amazed by the place..... Maybe next year, huh ?

Maybe next year, huh ? brian Brian, I really wish I could have made that trip - I looked at every possible way to do it but the money just wasn't available. My credit card is already to the point where I need to just bury it somewhere. But next year, HOPEFULLY, the money situation would allow for a trip to St. Johns. From what you have said and from some things I have read online it really does sound like a place I need to visit. Not to mention I think I owe you at least 1 beer ;D Keep us posted on next year's convention! Jim

Those are some great pictures of Brian. Such fancy attire. Too bad I couldn't go.

Well, Goblin's travels in St John's are drawing to a close - just about to head for the airport - waah!
I did have a drink for the guys who couldn't get there - Jim, is Captain Morgan OK? ;D
Strangest named pub I went into was Talamh an Eisc (which I think means something like Land of Fish in Irish?). As well as O'Reilly's and Jungle Jim's, also went to: The Ship, The Fat Cat (blues), The Crow's Nest (folk), Erin's Pub (Irish), The Guv'nor (English) and The Rose and Thistle (Ron Hynes).
Man, this town is fun. Gotta love a place where the cashiers in the grocery store cheer if you walk in and just buy 2 bottles of rum and a bag of Cheezies LOL

Taking a look at my pictures from Bell Island, I found that there are two additional heroic stories here! Walter and Avis Dicks were singled out for heroism when the two ferryboats serving the island collided in 1940. Meanwhile... back at the Con: And, a few others: Rockin pics
